Verbascripta’s birth

Verbascripta is born initially out of the creative mind of Jérôme Fontan. Many of you have known his work through the erotic melancholy of the electro act Porn.Darsteller. In the early 2000s, he released many records, notably Private (2001) and Romance (2002) on the label Invasion Planète. After this experience, many live shows and international tours, he decided to focus on more personal projects. First, he worked on the soundtrack of a rare Spanish silent film called The Sixth Sense and then on La Mort de l’Hippocampe, in which his interest for analog synthesizers and old rhythm’n boxes was mixed with modern classical influences, symbolic poetry, lyrical singing and post-industrial weirdness.

On June 17th, 2011, Jérôme passed away, leaving his family and friends in great pain and sadness. He had finished several recordings and was to start his own label, Verbascripta in September 2011. The first recording planned was Symphonie neuronale in collaboration with the label Enfant Terrible, with whom Jérôme had worked since the time of Porn.Darsteller.

The idea of Verbascripta was to design art-objects for mysterious sounds, strange arrangements, eccentric violins, surreal recordings, anything but singular music.
The collaborators and friends of Jérôme have decided to make his dreams and ambitions come true, and through Verbascripta, they are going to release, at first, all the finished pieces Jérôme had planned to publish on his own label.

Symphonie neuronale is the first reference of Verbascripta.

Der Tod / Das Leben

Der Tod, das ist die kühle Nacht,
Das Leben ist der schwüle Tag.
Es dunkelt schon, mich schläfert,
Der Tag hat
mich müd gemacht.

Über mein Bett erhebt sich ein Baum,
Drin
singt die junge Nachtigall ;
Sie singt von lauter Liebe -
Ich hör es so gar im Traum.

Heinrich Heine
